NEWS FROM THE FARM
2012
Feb 2012 - Congratulations Crystal! She is the new mom for Skylar, Shasta and Michar! We will be deciding on breeding partners and they will be going to their new home in Goodlettsville, TN around July.
Feb 2012 - I decided to enter fleeces in the Carolina Alpaca Classic (Feb 18-19). I mailed off fleeces for Justice and Troy, plus VooDoo, Marky Mark, Shemar, Zeus, Taylor and Diez. Troy was so big that he needed a box just for himself and that was with all the air out of the bag!!
Jan 2012 - We have ultrasound confirmations for Fall 2012 pregnancies! Confirmed: Jaci/Troy; Tilloo/Troy, Athena/Legend; Trixi/Justice; Alyssa/Outlaw; Mystic/Justice; Halo/Justice. There are some exciting combinations in these. Tilloo is a 2011 color champion, Troy is a 2010 color champion, so that should be an awesome baby! Alyssa/Outlaw - Alyssa is a Legacy line and Outlaw is a Caligula line - awesome! Trixi/Justice - Trixi is a Jetson (multi TB color champion) daughter and Justice is a TB RC Champion! Can't wait for the babies!!!
Jan 2012 - Looking at our show string for the Southern Select Alpaca Show in March. I've decided on 9 halter and 9 fleeces. For halter - all first timers! Outlaw, VooDoo, Marky Mark, Shemar, Snickers, Zeus, Taylor, Diez and Princess Pea! Should be FUN! For fleece - Justice and Troy will be going for their 2nd championship! Also, Outlaw, VooDoo, Marky Mark, Shemar, Zeus, Taylor and Diez. I also entered Legend and Chaos in the Spin-off. Very exciting!
2011
Dec 2011 - Alpaca Creek Farm participated in the holiday open house at Terrace at Blue Grass assisted living home. I brought VooDoo, Shemar and Zeus. Zeus walked in the building, walked all around the guests and then laid down right by Santa!!!! Very funny! He was great as everyone loved all over him!
Oct 2011 - Congratulations to the Renee and family! They are new breeders and new owners of Jaci (bred to Troy), Tilloo (bred to Troy), Athena (bred to Legend) and Trixi (bred to Justice).
Sept 2011 - National Alpaca Farm Days
We had our National Alpaca Farm Days at the Wilson Co Fairgrounds again this year. Had a great turn out. I took 4 studs to show a variety of colors - Prince of Troy, Justice, Outlaw and Barbossa entertained the crowd! Was a nice day and nice weather.
Sept 2011 - Our Prince of Troy had his first cria! A nice black boy they named Nitro! Justice also had another GORGEOUS baby girl named Cheyenne (beautiful pattern fawn/white) and Neo had a wonderful brown baby boy they named Amadeus. You can see these spirited cria at Humming B Alpacas in Lebanon, TN
Sept 2011 - TN State Fair
The first time the TN State fair had an alpaca show! We entered 7 fleeces - took home 4 first place, 2 2nd place and a 3rd place. Thrilled for Trixi and Taylor, who captured 1st place ribbons! Very promising start to their show careers! Shemar got a 2nd behind Trixi! VooDoo got a 2nd place behind the fleece that won the championship.
Aug 2011 - Got some wonderful yarn back today! Mostly gray from our Prince of Troy and Halo - got some light silver gray, medium silver gray and some tweed. Also got Alyssa's fleece dyed pink! Nice yarn - check it out on our store page!
July 2011 - Shemar had his first public outing at the Assisted Living Center in Gallatin. He joined his suri buddies from Long Hollow Suri Alpacas and entertained everyone. Got lots of hugs and pictures!
June 2011 - Congratulations to Christina! She is the new owner of Brisa and Fiesta. She has one alpaca already, so these will be buddies! She lives just a few exits away, so will be close!
Apr 2011 - Shearing time!!! boy do they look funny after shearing!!!!
Mar 2011 - MOPACA fleece show
We entered 4 fleeces and took home 3 first place ribbons (Tilloo, Justice and Troy) and a 2nd for Legend. There were not enough fleeces for a Championship show, so we were disappointed that we missed out on 3 possible banners.
Mar 2011 Southern Select Alpaca Show – Shelbyville, TN
Our 9th Annual alpaca show sponsored by the SeAA. Because we had a cria due, I didn't enter the halter show, but I did bring fleeces and had our best show ever! We brought 13 fleeces and got 13 ribbons including a Color Champion for Tilloo and a Reserve Color Champion for Justice (tied in points with the Champion!). I am THRILLED. We also took home first place for Troy, Justice, Tilloo!
Mar 2011 - Our only cria of the season, Athena gave us a beautiful baby girl from Legend. We named her Princess Pea and she is as spoiled as the name suggests!
Jan 2011 - Congratulations to Melissa and Jody! They are very proud owners of Halo, Neo and Remington!
2010
Cria Fall season 2010
Fall evened out the female/male ratio a bit! In August, we had a bit of a scare when Malibu was born 3 1/2 weeks early (Garnet/Legend). I had to bottle feed her round the clock for 5 days as she was too small to get her mouth around mom's teat, but day 6 she was successful and that's all it took. She is a healthy girl! On Oct 10 (10-10-10), we had our Barbossa's first cria with Lady Charlotte - a gorgeous girl we named Tres Diez. In Nov, Danica surprised me with a baby girl (I thought she was due in April, not Nov). I actually caught her as she was born and she's been my special girl ever since! I named her Taylor after one of my favorite singers, Taylor Swift. Nov also gave us another gorgeous Pulitzer boy from Mona. We named him Zeus.
Mar 2010 Palmetto Alpaca Classic – NC
Coming off a GREAT show in TN, we had another GREAT show in NC. We brought 5 for halter and got 5 ribbons including a 1st place for Tilloo and 2nd place for Justice and Halo. We brought 11 fleeces and got 11 ribbons including 7 2nd place ribbons!!!! Troy was 1/2 point out of first place, Barbossa was 1/2 point out of 2nd!
Mar 2010 Southern Select Alpaca Show – Shelbyville, TN
Our 8th Annual alpaca show sponsored by the SeAA. Another great show for with our first COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP! We entered 7 alpacas in the halter show and took home 5 ribbons, including a 1st for Halo, 2nd for Tilloo and 3rd place for Justice and Barbossa. The judge said Halo had perfect confirmation! In the fleece show, we entered 12 and took home 12 ribbons including the Gray color championship and first place for our Prince of Troy!! Justice also got a first place, but the show was 1 short of enough for a championship. He had enough points to win the championship, so I was disappointed. Isis also took home a 1st and we had 2 2nd place ribbons for Legend and Alyssa. We also had 3 3rd place ribbons! A great show for us!
Cria Spring season 2010
Big cria season! We started by welcoming a healthy boy (Outlaw) from Athena and Accoyo Pulitzer on Jan 9th! This is her first baby and a new bloodline for us with Pulitzer, who is a Caligula son!! This new boy is Full Peruvian and 7/8 Accoyo - not a bad way to start the year! We covered all of the Spring months - Trixi was born in Feb (Trinity/Jetson), VooDoo was born in March (Jaci/Lethal Weapon), Marky Mark born in April (Michar/Lethal Weapon, Snickers (Brisa/Gathering Storm) and Shemar (Isis/Jetson) were born a day apart in May. 5 boys and 1 girl - but, they are awesome boys!!!! I'm happy!
2009
Sept 2009: National Farm Days
We celebrated National Farm Days this year by splitting the weekend. On Saturday, about 15 local farms had stalls at the Wilson Co Fairgrounds. We had a very successful weekend with animals, fleece and products available for the public to see. On Sunday, we each had open hours at our individual farms.
Mar-June 2009 – This year’s babies were born. We ended the season with 2 boys (Dante and Chaos) and 3 girls (Tyet, Tilloo and Skylar). Unfortunately, we did lose a baby girl this year – Abaco will be missed. She was a beautiful fawn girl. We added a new bloodline to our herd with Tyet, sired by STF Jetson – a Royal Fawn grandson and 8-time black color champion!
April 2009: Shearing time!
Annual shearing time! Everyone is shorn once a year. We keep some fleece to show through the year and have the rest processed into yarn that is sold on our site.
April 2009: Palmetto Alpaca Classic in SC
We had a GREAT showing at PAC. We won 5 halter ribbons (of 5 entries), including 3 2nd places for Justice, Prince of Troy and Barbossa! In fact, it was side-by-side for Justice with first place (who won the color champion!) and it was again side-by-side with Justice and the alpaca that took reserve color champion! All 8 fleeces took ribbons including 2 1st place ribbons for Isis and Athena!
March 2009: Southern Select Show in Shelbyville, IN
Our largest show in the SE with over 500 alpacas! We took 8 alpacas and won 5 ribbons, took 8 fleeces and got 8 ribbons! A GREAT success and a GREAT time! Barbossa got a 1st in fleece and a 2nd in halter - his halter show was the first time I've been in the championship ring! Very thrilling!
2008
SEPT 2008: We had a wonderfully successful 2nd Annual National Alpaca Farm Days the last weekend in Sept. Expecting about 50 people like last year, I was overwhelmingly happy with 180 visitors!!!
AUGUST 2008: Jacki was elected onto the SeAA Board of Directors.
SPRING 2008: We experienced the joy of 5 new bundles of fleece! We were blessed with Danica, Fury, Justice, Halo and Alyssa. I finally got my little gray girl (Halo) !!!
2007
NOV 2007: Saracen’s PRINCE OF TROY was born. Our first gray baby and Saracen's first son (aptly appointed a Prince!). Troy was named after Prince Hector of Troy. A Trojan hero until his death in the clash of the Spartans and Trojans (remember the Trojan horse?) during the Trojan War. Our Troy has amazing fleece and is a bundle of energy. Check out his page!
